Supporting curiosity and development

Experience has shown us that a visit to Hill End can support children’s innate curiosity to learn, and encourage both positive behaviour and a wide range of opportunities for personal, social, educational and language development.

All visits incorporate the best in outdoor education practise with an emphasis on fun, child-led learning and developing the whole child.

The extensive educational programmes on offer cover Outdoor skills, Science & Technology and History.

From early years pupils through to secondary school students, Hill End has many regular school visiting groups. The flexibility of the spaces and amenities we are able to make available at Hill End mean the site can be utilised for day visits or for residential stays, with the ability to accommodate groups of up to 170.

We now offer several tailor-made packages for schools to make it even easier to plan overnight stays that combine the benefits of a residential with bespoke learning experiences.

Some school groups choose to reserve space on site and use it as they want; others select to book one of the Hill End staff and the equipment necessary to undertake curriculum focused activity. From pond dipping to orienteering, we can provide you with all the resources you will need to run activities spanning a wide range of topics.

Whether it’s for a day or a week, a visit to Hill End provides the ideal blend of adventure, fun and learning for children, giving them a real introduction to the countryside and setting them on the road to a lifetime of interest in the natural world.
