We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for the Oxford Preservation Trust Awards 2026, taking place on 4 November.
The awards recognise successful examples of historic conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse in Oxford, and the judging panel (architects, planners and historians) were truly impressed with our new Ancient Settlement Roundhouse. This simple but beautiful building was designed and overseen by master woodscraftsman Chris Park, but constructed largely by our amazing volunteers with the help of staff and visiting children.
Built from locally sourced materials from our site and Wytham Woods, and topped with thatch kindly gifted by Fowler & Sons, the roundhouse is a wonderful focal point for our outdoor ancient history teaching with local schools.
